Winchester, Hampshire Mar 19, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - GCSE students should start revising on the first day of spring if they want to cover all topics before exams begin, says the director of a major national tutoring agency.
To allow enough preparation time and avoid last-minute exam stress, students should begin GCSE revision during the spring equinox week, according to Home-School Tutoring’s director, Margaret Sweetland.
With most GCSE exams beginning in May, using the official start of spring as a launch point for revision gives students a week to revise each of their subjects before their first exam comes around.
“If your son or daughter hasn’t planned a revision timetable yet, we recommend creating and starting a structured revision plan this week to make sure all areas of study are covered in the weeks ahead,” says Margaret Sweetland.
“Our advice is to order timetables strategically, starting with the core subjects of English and Maths, as revising these subjects first will consolidate key skills that will be useful for other subjects.
“Students should also plan their timetables around their own strengths and weaknesses, allowing additional time for areas with which students may struggle.”
If planning a revision timetable with your son or daughter reveals difficulties or worries about particular subjects or topics, there is still time to address any problems in the weeks ahead.
One-to-one tuition provides students with an opportunity to fill any gaps in their knowledge and reduce exam anxiety. Tutors can also help students develop more effective study skills and exam techniques, enabling them to face their upcoming exams with confidence.
