Uruguay - the little country that surprises - comes to London

Trade Mission brings delegation eager to explain why Uruguay is the ideal hub location for British business in Latin America

London, England May 16, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - From May 14 to 18, London is being visited by a Trade Mission organised by Uruguay XXI, the government’s promotion agency, in conjunction with the British Embassy in Montevideo, the British-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce and the UK Department for International Trade.

Uruguay has become established as Latin America’s ideal regional hub, where companies can centralize their commercial operations, IT centers, administrative and logistics operations to do business throughout the Americas. The aim of the Mission is to promote and explain these opportunities to British companies looking to expand their operations to the Americas.

The week’s agenda group comprises several activities, with presentations, business meetings and networking opportunities. A highlight of the week is a seminar on Friday, "Why Uruguay? Latin America's Finest Business Gateway". The event is being held atop the North Tower of Tower Bridge, and is already full to capacity with a waiting list. The presentations showcase Uruguay’s value proposition, focusing on the strong assets that make Uruguay such a great location for British investors.

Guest speakers include Ian Duddy, British Ambassador in Uruguay. Directors of a leading UK multi-national pharmaceutical company will give a keynote on their experience and success in setting up in the country. Other speakers include Silvana Lesca Barolin, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Uruguay in the United Kingdom, Ignacio Del, President of the British-Uruguayan Chamber of Commerce in Montevideo and representatives of Uruguay XXI.

On 16 and 17 May, Uruguay XXI is both exhibiting and presenting at the Going Global/Foreign Direct Investment Expo at ExCel London, to gain access to prospects and investment companies looking to establish their operations abroad. Uruguay will be promoted as a strategic focal point location for access for the Latin American market, while Paola Leites and Fiorella Bafundo from Uruguay XXI are presenting on the benefits of investing in Uruguay. They’ll be explaining regulations, tax incentives, highly qualified talent, and the most advanced IT infrastructure in the region, as well as its sustained political and economic stability.

The UK Department for International Trade has also facilitated a day of events and additional meetings for the delegation with key decision makers in some key sectors such as real estate, insurance, pharmaceuticals, retail, agro-technology and IT.

Participants in the activities include Irrazabal & Asociados, Ebizmarts, Jaume & Seré, BMS Latin America, Open Door Investments, International Corporate Creations and WTC Montevideo Free Zone.
