2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Schedule Announced!

The schedules of Caribbean Premier League’s 2020 season have been announced on Monday by the official CPL T20 2020 team, the 33-match season will start from Tuesday, 18th August 2020, and will be running till Thursday, 10th September 2020.

Six teams will be playing this season, including Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, St Lucia Zouks, and Trinbago Knight Riders.

The schedules of Caribbean Premier League’s 2020 season have been announced on Monday by the official CPL T20 2020 team, the 33-match season will start from Tuesday, 18th August 2020, and will be running till Thursday, 10th September 2020. This tournament, which is the eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League, will be played in Trinidad and Tobago. Being the first T20 League to play after the COVID restrictions, the matches will be held with strict guidelines in place and will be conducted in closed stadiums.

According to the announced cricket schedule, CPL T20 2020 will be holding 33 matches this season and these matches will be hosted across two stadiums; 23 games in the first and the last leg of the competition will be played in The Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba while 10 matches will be conducted at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

The first match will be between the runners-up of CPL 2019, Guyana Amazon Warriors taking on Trinbago Knight Riders on 18th August and the second game will be held between champions of CPL 2019, Barbados Tridents and the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The second leg of the Caribbean Premier League 2020 will be held from August 25 to August 30 at The Queen's Park Oval, continuing the third leg back at Tarouba, where the semi-finals and the final will be conducted on 8th September and 10th September respectively.

"This year will be a different CPL, but the standard will be higher than ever. We have seen the appetite for live sport since it has returned after a prolonged absence, and the interest in CPL will be higher than ever with it being the first franchise T20 tournament to return," said CPL's CEO Damien O'Donohoe. 

Six teams will be playing this season, including Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, St Lucia Zouks, and Trinbago Knight Riders. According to a statement from CPL, all teams and officials will be accommodated in one hotel and will be subject to strict quarantine protocols for the first two weeks of their stay in the country.

All overseas travellers will be tested for the COVID-19, before departure from their countries and on arrival in Trinidad. If any group of people shows signs or symptoms of COVID-19 at any time during the tournament, all members of that group will be expected to self-isolate for 14 days from the time that a member of that group first shows symptoms. This will be strictly followed for the safety of everyone.
