Tallahassee, Florida Nov 4, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - Kimberly Davis transcends gender dysphoria and details her struggles and triumphs in her memoir, Becoming Kimberly: A Transgender's Journey.

Before her transition to Kimberly, she lived as an ordinary man named Richard. Born and raised in the bible-belt of the country, south of Georgia, she had always been a devoted family person. Her first marriage lasted for eight years and gave birth to three sons. Her second marriage lasted 25 years but came to an end caused by her wife’s untimely demise to breast cancer.

Living with the love of her life, her wife Vikki, and her eventual death in 2016, have given her the courage to pursue the life she has always wanted. Davis started her transition on the same year and her life as a woman.

Transgender reviewers of Amazon identify with Davis’ struggles. Those who wish to understand the many challenges of living a dual life recommend reading this book. Judy Hallums, an Amazon reviewer, shares that she would “recommend this book as just a really good book to read even if you don't know any transgenders.”

The first few months had been the most difficult period of Davis’ transitional phase. The book narrates the rigid training she had to go through to adjust her voice and her walk. More than that, she was  in a constant battle for dominance with her former self, Richard. The inner dissonance that went on every time she had to make an important decision (e.g. hormone replacement therapy, breast augmentation, etc.) for her physical transformation was incessant and at times discouraging. But more often than not, with her unyielding determination to begin a new life, she would win their internal arguments with her own battlecry of, “I’m here, and I’m not going back to the damn bottle.”
