Bell Jr. is an action-packed narrative of the passion and the coming of age of Black Lieutenant Neal Williams as he struggles to succeed as a platoon leader of white soldiers, despite the blocking schemes of prejudice white officers. LT Williams’s situation was one of many army desegregation trial efforts. All such efforts were not successful, but all such efforts, as in LT William’s situation, resulting in heartburn, conflict, and often unintended or unexpected consequences.

Christopher C. Bell Jr. is a retired Army major who served as a lieutenant in Germany during the 1950s. He identifies himself as a black man, a poet, an essayist, and a lecturer on racial and ethnicity subjects. Chris has developed and expanded sensitivity and awareness about other people and cultures as a result of his extensive travels.
