Mumbai, Maharashtra Mar 12, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - At the prestigious FMSCI Annual Awards, held here at the PHD House on the 29th of Feb 2020 - Aashi Hanspal – the 13 years old driving prodigy from the city of Mumbai, has been conferred with the “Outstanding Women in Motorsports - 2019” award. She got this prestigious award for her accolades in the National Karting Championships in 2019.
The glittering event was held at the PHD House, in the presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Kiren Rijiju - the Honorable Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, FMSCI President Mr. Prithviraj, and who’s who of the motorsports world.
Aashi is a grade 8 student at Bombay Scottish School - Mahim (Mumbai) and took up motorsports in Nov 2018. In a very short time, she has already created a name for herself in the Go-Karting world. With 5 podium finishes in the Racing Season 2019, it has definitely been a great debut year for the young driver.
The 1st Podium came at the JK Tyre FMSCI National Karting Championship - held at the famous Chicane circuit in Hyderabad on 17th Nov 2019. She finished 1st with a record timing of 10:57:406 mins. On 22nd Dec. 2019, the Final Round of JK Tyre FMSCI National Karting Championship in Chennai was completely dominated by Aashi with 3 podiums in a row (winning two races at P1 and one race in P2 position). She was also the fastest in qualifiers amongst 150 odd racers thereby secured the pole position at the starting grid in the final races.
The motorsports world has taken a positive note on this young, rising sensation as Aashi is getting used to standing atop podiums - but what has impressed sports technicians and experts is the fact that she is an extremely impressive driver, technically. She had been praised for her clean driving and adhering to rules & principles sincerely.
Already considered an inspiration for several young boys & girls; who aspire to be professional drivers someday; she is currently gearing up for the upcoming “Racing Season 2020”. This special recognition from the FMSCI will give a significant boost to her morale and confidence.
Aashi has been actively training with Rayo Racing Academy at the Ajmera’s Indikarting Circuit in Mumbai. Her coach Saurav Bandyopadhyay is an ace kart driver & car racer himself, while her mentor Rayomand Banajee – the 8 times National Karting & Car Racing Champion, is a well-known personality in the world of motorsports. “After a while, we once again have a girl in our Rayo Racing program. Aashi has a lot of potential and I’m hoping she continues to work hard and manages to get right up there” - said Mr. Rayomand (the owner of Rayo Racing Academy).
The ultimate goal for Aashi remains constant - that is to break the patriarchal ceiling in the motorsports world, by being one of the first Indian girls to drive at the prestigious Formula Racing Series & fly the mighty Indian flag at soaring heights.
