Activist De Bouse Celebrates Juneteenth With 2.5-Mile Walk and Visit to Juneteenth Business Expo

Orlando, Florida Jun 25, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - We all love her. We all adore her. We all are in awe of her endless positive energy and activism. She is the incomparable Equality Activist Greshun De Bouse! Activist De Bouse walked with who President Biden named the "Grandmother of Juneteenth"-Opal Lee-to make Juneteenth (June 19) a federal holiday, and now that it is a federal holiday with all of the recognition and benefits as other federal holidays, Activist De Bouse is pleased. So what does this activist do to celebrate the culmination of the hard work of Juneteenth Activist Opal Lee, herself, and others? She walks and makes surprise visits! In 2020, Activist De Bouse was in Fortworth, TX walking with "Juneteenth Grandmother" Opal Lee and rallying support in hopes of having Juneteenth declared a federal holiday. Well this year, though the holiday is federal, Activist De Bouse still made the 2.5-mile walk to symbolize the 2 1/2 years between when U.S. slaves were freed via Abraham Lincoln's 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, and when the U.S.slaves in Texas actually learned they were free on June 19, 1865.  But the walk is not all Activist De Bouse did. After learning it was one of the biggest events of its kind in the city, Activist De Bouse suprised Juneteenth supporters and entrepreneurs at the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Business Expo in St. Petersburg, FL. The event was set to have 150+ vendors who were selling everything from Juneteenth paraphernalia to succulent Louisiana-style gumbo-a dish to which Activist De Bouse is accustomed, hailing from the south. Yes, Activist De Bouse hails from the south, but she is recognized nationwide. In fact, after interviewing with Fox13 News, De Bouse was spotted by Florida Senator Daryll Rouson who was so elated to finally meet her, he could hardly contain his excitement and admiration.  Senator Rouson, who also hails from the south, rattled off about all of the impactful work De Bouse has done in numerous cities and was in pleasant disbelief that he actually was in her presence. Amid her very busy schedule, we were able to catch up with esteemed Activist De Bouse for brief comments. We asked how it felt to see so many entrepreneurs celebrating the Juneteenth that she played a part in making federal, and she simply said, "It feels great."

Now Activist De Bouse founded the JUNETEENTHGOESFEDERAL Movement #juneteenthgoesfederal to celebrate Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday, educate on its history and the journey to becoming a federal holiday, ensure all employees receive the same rights and benefits for Juneteenth as they would any other federal holiday, and emphasize the need for continued equality activism.  We don't know how she does it all; she's just superwoman it seems. We salute you Activist De Bouse. Happy Juneteenth 2021!
