Chennai, Tamil Nadu Dec 1, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - In yet another milestone in its remarkable journey in the field of higher education, Rajalakshmi Engineering College has been selected by the All India Council for Technical Education as Mentor to guide and disperse knowledge with 12 engineering colleges to uplift the quality of technical education.
The inauguration and exchange of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for Share and Mentor Institutions (MARGADARSHAN) programme, under the guidance of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), were held in Rajalakshmi Engineering College at Thandalam in Chennai on Saturday (November 30, 2019).
Dr. M. P. POONIA, Vice-Chairman, AICTE inaugurated the MARGADARSHAN Scheme, in the presence of Dr. (Mrs.) Thangam Meganathan, Chairperson, Rajalakshmi Institutions, Mr. M. Abhay Shankar, Vice-Chairman, Rajalakshmi Institutions, Dr. C.R. Muthukrishnan, Advisor, Rajalakshmi Institutions and Dr. S.N Murugesan, Principal, Rajalakshmi Engineering College.
Speaking about the highlights of the programme, Dr. M. P. POONIA, Vice-Chairman, AICTE, said, "The objective of the MARGDARSHAN Scheme is to recognize an institute of reputation as a mentor to guide and disperse knowledge to and between around 10 technical institutions, identified as ‘spokes’, in the region so as to encourage sharing of best practices among them."
Dr. M.P. POONIA added that under this scheme, REC will be a mentor (Hub) institute to 12 engineering institutes in uplifting the quality of technical education, promoting research interactions, organizing high impact faculty development programs.
While Rajalakshmi Engineering College has been selected by AICTE as a mentor institute with a funding of Rs 30 lakh for the period 2019-2022, 12 mentee colleges have been chosen with whom MoUs are signed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College on Friday.
The mentee colleges are Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College, Loyola Institute of Technology, DMI College of Engineering, Kings Engineering College, Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology, GRT Institute of Engineering and Technology, Adhi College of Engineering and Technology, PSV College of Engineering and Technology, Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering, Dhaanish Ahmed College of Engineering, Shreenivasa Engineering College and GKM College of Engineering and Technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Mrs.) Thangam Meganathan, Chairperson, Rajalakshmi Institutions, said, "It is a proud moment for Rajalakshmi Engineering College, for it has been selected by the AICTE to act as a mentor to 12 engineering colleges in the region under the ambitious MARGDARSHAN Scheme. We are sure will give our best to make this project a grand success by sharing knowledge, best practices with other institutions."
Mr. M. Abhay Shankar, Vice-Chairman, Rajalakshmi Institutions, said, "The sole aim of Rajalakshmi Engineering College has been to impart the best in engineering education to our students. We are happy that we will now be reaching out to students and faculty of other colleges too. We will live up to the confidence the AICTE and other institutions have on us."
Dr.S.N Murugesan, Principal, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, said, "I am happy and proud that our college has been chosen by the AICTE to be the mentor for 12 other institutions. I am sure this programme will become a grand success resulting in an increase in the quality of technical education in the region."
