Austin, Texas Apr 20, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Now seeking community support via Kickstarter, Little Narwhal’s Day is the first book in the new Secret Creatures series.
Little Narwhal’s Day features mysterious and beautiful animals from the Arctic Circle, including the Narwhal, a playful Beluga whale, and the endangered ribbon seal, with art by illustrator Indira Zuleta. Castillo hopes to share these “secret creatures” with children around the world. In the back of the book, children and parents can find interesting facts about creatures from the Arctic, as well as internet links to discover more.
Besides raising funds to produce Little Narwhal’s Day, Castillo is pledging to donate one book to Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin, Texas, for every 10 books funded.
When asked why she decided to write a picture book, Castillo said, “After writing twenty books for adults and older children, I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream; to write and produce a story book I could read to my own kids.” She went on to say, “Dell Children’s Hospital of Austin provided care for my three-year-old daughter when she had a terrible infection and had to be there almost a week. I would love to give back just a teensy bit to help other kids during their time in the hospital.”
For the Kickstarter, supporters can pledge $5.00 or more and receive various rewards depending on what they pledge, including first edition, autographed copies of Little Narwhal’s Day.
