Costa Mesa, California Oct 16, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Sunny Kim’s paintings use the title “Cosmic Dreams” as that is the overarching theme of her artistic exploration. Trying to capture a sense of a vast universe, her paintings give a sense of spatial relationships, tension, movement and celestial patterns in sensitive color fields. She is a regular exhibitor at Sandstone Gallery, 384-A N Coast Highway, in Laguna Beach.
In her artist statement, Kim says, “the beauty of the Universe extends far beyond what one sees in a photograph of the heavens. I try to capture the emotions associated with the vast incomprehensibility of the cosmos and the expanse of eternity, and the perfect union of chaos and order.”
Kim is an untiring advocate of the arts and a council member of the Orange County Museum of Art.
The Costa Mesa Women's Club, a 109-year-old organization, has been supporting the community’s cultural aspects for decades along with making scholarships available to struggling students. Proceeds from the Holiday Art Festival will help make nursing scholarships available to area students.
There will be a number of fine art artisans at the show including fine art photographer Matt Fitt, artists Natasha Rindt and Gar Benedick along with upscale jewelry artist Fred Curtis.
The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019. Mayor Katrina Foley will speak at 6:30 pm and be followed by a Native American flute selection by artisan Fred Curtis. The public is invited and there is no admission fee. Refreshments will be served and parking is free outside the building.
