Brisbane, Queensland Feb 28, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - A Queensland-based flooring company running a campaign to re-floor the homes of flood-affected Townsville residents free of charge is calling out for support.

European Hardware – which specialises in timber flooring – has already donated two houses worth of flooring to families in need and is running a campaign to floor 20 more.

Owner of European Hardware and Australian TV personality Chris Milligan said the community response to the campaign had been overwhelming – and resulted in extensive media coverage – but that more funding was desperately needed to help flood-affected families.

“We have already received amazing offers of support from other companies who have donated time and materials, with one company donating more flooring, another installing the flooring for the two families who received the initial donations, and a trucking company transporting the stock from Brisbane to Townsville.

“Flooring is often the biggest-ticket item in a house, so what we really need now are the funds to scale this campaign to touch more flood-affected lives in Townsville – we need people, businesses and corporates to get on board right now to deliver the rest of these homes.

“Every donation counts, and if people can only donate one dollar then we urge them to. If businesses or corporates can think bigger, a donation of $5,500 will re-floor an entire house for a family in need.”

Many Townsville residents are quickly realising their insurance companies are refusing to adequately cover them for flood damage, leaving them with few options to get their lives back on track.

“Families who are struggling financially face the sad reality of their flooring being washed away or having to move back into their homes and rip up water-damaged floors, only to then live on concrete – or worse – as they can’t afford new floors,” Chris said.

“As a partner with my brother in Queensland-based timber flooring company European Hardware, I have access to the very resources that will provide Townsville families with relief, so together we have launched the ‘re-flooring project’,” Chris said.

“Our aim is to get flood-affected Townsville families back into their homes as quickly and safely as possible.”

Chris has set up a fundraising page with the initial goal providing flooring to 20 more flood-affected households.

“Every dollar donated goes directly towards supplying the materials required to settle more Townsville families in need back into their homes.

“In addition, we’re extending to the greater Townsville community, the offer of cost price on all our building materials and have already ordered large quantities of stock to meet the demand.”

Founded in 2015, European Hardware provides high-quality European brands to the Australian construction market and specialises in timber flooring and decking.
