Phoenix, Arizona Oct 22, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - To excite the imagination of ROCKY fans before CREED 2 hits theatres Nov. 21st, Andrew LeMay posted the Ivan Drago stand-alone spec script online at andrewlemay.com. Believing this the best way to show Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios that Sylvester Stallone's creation can expand beyond Rocky Balboa; LeMay knows there is more than enough material in his screenplay to get Dolph Lundgren his own ROCKY spinoff.
Originally adapted from "Communist, Boxing, Redemption, Movie", DRAGO answers the question of what happened to Ivan Drago after ROCKY IV. By pitting The Siberian Bull against the last person to defeat The Italian Stallion, it turns Dolph Lundgren's villain into an anti-hero lead, while expanding the franchise to follow the MARVEL universe mould.
Holding true to the pre-CREED script, LeMay feels MGM is leaving money on the table by failing to expand the roles of Mr T, Lou DiBella, and Antonio Tarver. By continuing the characters from the ROCKY films in cameos and through streaming episodes for Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon, audience engagement would create anticipation for upcoming movie premiers like CREED 3, a Clubber Lang spinoff, and possibly a ROCKY prequel.
According to Box Office Mojo, ROCKY IV is the highest grossing film of the franchise topping $300 million worldwide. With a foreign gross of $172 million without inflation, ROCKY 4 was only $1 million short of CREED's worldwide gross. If CREED 2 does succeed in beating CREED's 2015 box office numbers, will it be due to Michael B. Jordan's return to boxing or Dolph Lundgren's return as Ivan Drago?
"Communist, Boxing, Redemption Movie" is a high budget action sports script written for foreign audiences, is currently on the market, and has been rebranded for Amazon sales as RED GLOVE.
