Back in 1999, Dr. Benny graduated with his medical degree from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, the University of The West Indies in Jamaica. He then went on to perform his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Texas, Houston, and his pain medicine - interventional spine and sports fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Playing an active role in his field, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, whose mission is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.
By the same token, he is board-eligible in sports medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.
In his professional experience, Dr. Benny is involved in the North American Spine Society as part of the Rehabilitation, Intervention and Medical Spine (RIMs) Society, has been on the faculty for the Advanced Spinal Workshop for many years, is involved with the Spine Intervention Society (SIS) Committee, and is involved in other societies like the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also involved in the research side as well as continues to publish papers in the field.
