San Diego, California Nov 6, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Michael Cox, CEO, and Publisher of Black SD Magazine founded the publication last year in 2020 during the hit of the pandemic to highlight and showcase the excellence, luxury, lifestyle, and culture of the African American community. The goal was to start an African American-focused magazine that would put a more positive light on the community. Within our first year, Black SD Magazine received two Proclamations.
The first was from San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher for our entrepreneurial program and the second from former Mayor of San Diego Kevin Faulconer for being the first African American-focused magazine to be printed in San Diego.
The first print Issue was launched in December of 2020 showcasing amazing creatives from photographers to small business owners. This was followed up by its second issue featuring Super Bowl winner Reggie Bush in April. We have had celebrity interviews from Mathew Knowles to Amara La Negra.
In July of 2021, Michael Cox signed a 12-month contract with his print company with the release of the special Pride edition featuring Amiyah Scott. Each issue showcases how diverse our African American community is. “We aren’t monolithic and our diverse stories are supposed to showcase that,” says Cox. The publication released its special Afro-Latinx in September to highlight that segment of the community.
In each issue, you will enjoy amazing stories from celebrities to local individuals showcasing black excellence. You will have the pleasure of enjoying consistent content such as recipes, wellness and workout tips, home decor ideas, beauty and fashion inspirations, and more. The print magazine is available only via print. “ Digital takes away from the true essence of a magazine”, says Cox.
