Our collective strength and dedication can drive change and shape the future. By working closely with entrepreneurs from Texas’ House District 113 and beyond, we see this as an opportunity to ensure their voices are heard, says State Rep. Bowers, who represents the area. Together, we are not just supporting a candidate, we are forging a path to a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow.”
The Win With Kamala event will feature celebrity stylists and philanthropists, Tina Knowles, Kim Aitch, Kimberly Kimble & Neal Farinah, along with other special guests. Building on the energy of Vice President Harris’ official acceptance of the nomination to become the Democratic nominee, the group plans to share tools and resources needed to help expand voter registration and participation efforts as Americans head to the polls on November 5th.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be in the space with all these beauty professionals, and their clients from across the country. This is an open call for community. Since the beginning of salons and barbershops, we have gotten the word out, says Tina Knowles, Co-Chairwoman, Cécred, our influence has always been and remains an important one. It’s time for stylists, barbers and beauty professionals everywhere to do our part.”
The September 9th event invites the beauty community to create a dialogue about the importance of voting, while also providing tools and resources to strengthen Vice President Harris’ campaign.
“Being president of a historical beauty association serving the Greater Houston Metropolitan area, I uniquely understand the power and responsibility we hold as trusted validators and messengers for our community. This election is too important for us to waste our influence, which is why myself and a group of my sister stylists decided to get together and do something, as directed by First Lady Michelle Obama, says, veteran celebrity hair stylist and activist, Kimberly Aitch, I tapped into my network and reached out to Tina Knowles, Representative Rhetta Bowers, and Black Women for Kamala to see what we could do. It’s on all of us to use all of what we have to ensure Vice President Harris is elected President Harris on November 5th.”
“We are so excited to be partnering with beauty and hair care professionals across the country to help get Vice President Kamala Harris elected President of the United States in November. The salon/shop chair has helped to transform the lives of many Americans, says, Black Women for Kamala Founder, Waikinya Clanton. It has long been a watering hole for the Black community and second to the news in terms of being a trusted voice and validator for our community and culture. There is Power in the Chair and we are excited to see that power transferred to the polls in November.”
Vice President Harris has demonstrated her commitment to the economic futures of all Americans, this initiative galvanizes Black entrepreneurs from across the country around the singular goal of helping Vice President Harris gain the presidency. In partnership with Representative Bowers, and the beauty professionals across the country, Black Women for Kamala proudly announces the Power of the Chair initiative, which deputizes beauticians and barbers as ambassadors for Harris and provides them with critical information on voting and the Harris-Walz agenda inspired by Dallas-based legacy stylist Kay Flewellen. This grassroots effort is designed to reach more voters through positive community engagement, awareness and voter engagement.
