There has been a continuous struggle made by all the governing bodies and the sports team as they are trying hard to adjust to the ongoing pandemic of covid-19. It is very hard to follow the changes that are taking place as part of the sporting events. It could either be the NBA who are moving all the contending teams so that they move to play in a ‘bubble’ in Orlando in Florida. It could also be the Summer Olympic Games that are already been postponed entirely until the next year 2021.
All these changes are coming since early march this year and as the new circumstance continues to unfold and evolve, it is still not clear how all the sports seasons such as the very popular NFL are going to pan out at the end of it all. It has only been just last week, that the Pacc-12 and Big 10 NCAA football conferences have already announced the postponement of their entire seasons as they have plans to play in the springs.
Having that in the mind, some sporting events are upcoming and tentatively scheduled to take place as the audiences can plan their coverage as everybody struggles through the year 2020.
August 2020
Earlier this year, since the time the global Covid-19 pandemic started, there was a talk about a major tennis event that is slated to be held. But things are going to change as the US Open for the year 2020 is all set to start on 31st August. There will be no spectators for the event, and there will be a lot less number of competitors who have been replaced and already withdrawn that includes the reigning single’s champion in the men’s category, Rafael Nadal, and Ashleigh Barty, who is the numero uno single’s player in the woman’s category.
There has been a huge interruption in The NBA season because of the pandemic but it has started with the playoffs on 17th August. But the future of the season looks very grim after it has been decided by the Milwaukee Bucks to sit out for the game on 26th August, against the formidable Orlando Magic as a protest against social injustice. This has been followed by other teams as well. For the time being, the playoffs for NHL that has been scheduled originally to start back in April has been underway currently.
September 2020
The Kentucky Derby, which is originally slated to be held in May, has gone through a change in its schedule and is going to take place on 5th September, Saturday. The tickets for the general admissions for the event have been entirely canceled and the organizers are still finding out ways to plan for allowing some of the spectators inside the venue in Churchill Downs.
For the games of the NFL season, it is still slated to kick-off on the 10th of September. Many of the teams have already announced their home games as they are going to be played with empty stands as there will be no spectators. The league has also not let any plans out as of now and is still thinking about making the change universal for all the teams out there.
October 2020
The post-season baseball starts in October, and even in the year 2020, it stands the same. On 29th September, the MLB playoffs are slated to begin and this will potentially continue until 31st October and if necessary, game 7 of the World Series will also take place. But with the outbreak of coronavirus and adjustments made to the itinerary, so far it has affected baseball. So, it has become quite impossible to predict the way the season is going to pan out.
November 2020
After the postponement has been announced back in March, the Master's tournament for 2020 has been rescheduled later and it is expected that it is going to be played without any spectators from 12th November to the 15th of the month. If it is still not enough for the spectators, they are up for the four Majors annually called The Masters that is to be held in April 2021.
December 2020
The Masters have been postponed, until the fag end of the year, the same goes for U.S. Open Golf Tournament to be held in 2020 that is also going to be postponed to December 10-13 from June earlier this year.
In December, when everybody is in the mood for a sporting event December, that is less mainstream, one can check out the below-mentioned video and get themselves pumped up for the Men’s World Football Championship that is going to be held in the year 2020 and the venue for the tournament will be in Helsinki in Finland and will take place between December 12 to 14. If somebody wants to check out some unfamiliar stuff, they can go for street hockey that has got soccer-type rules and will have a ball instead of a puck.
