Role of Women in Business

The world is slowly but steadily moving toward gender equality, especially in the workplace. So women are now being sought after, even in the most male-dominated world cultures and spaces. Yes, this is the reality of today's companies and women have excellent reasons for it as well. Most corporate women are known for their soft skills. They are also amazing knowledge seekers and most hard-working. At the same time, women in workplaces are less combative than their male work partners. However, you would still find biases, especially in leadership roles. So let's see why women are more fit and considered the supporting tier of businesses all around the world.

Why Do Women Shine in Leadership Roles?

There are a lot of reasons why women excel in leadership roles, sometimes even better than their male co-workers. The reasons for that start with emotional intelligence. Women leaders from all around the world are often credited for having higher levels of emotional intelligence. This includes understanding and managing one emotion, but at the same time helping others with theirs. This quality of having higher emotional intelligence contributes to effective communication, impacting team dynamics.

  • Compassionate:

In the 21st century, we are all more aware of how dangerous mental health issues can be, especially in workplaces. However, businesses and companies are not so good at supporting mental health in their premises. Women are more compassionate than male workers in the same office. They know better how to show workers that they are valued in the workplace by nurturing and supporting them in their ups and downs. Women leaders are also fit to recognize when someone is struggling versus when someone is calling for attention. On top of that, being more compassionate as a leader increases productivity in workers as they feel that the company values whatever they put in.

  • Inclusion:

One major part of being attuned to one's emotions is being more prepared to promote inclusivity and diversity in the workplace. In today’s world of business, diversity, inclusivity, and equality are more than just fancy words. Because women too face discrimination all the time, everywhere, they are more likely to be aware of the importance of diverse perspectives at work, which leads to creating a more inclusive work culture.

Some studies also suggest that women leaders are more risk-averse than their male counterparts. This means women leaders are more cautious in decision making which might be beneficial in certain situations. On top of that, women leaders mostly turn out to adopt a transformative leadership style that focuses on inspiring others and motivating the team members to achieve long-term goals without any undue risk.

  • Communication:

Most women are better at communication than male co-workers. They know how to communicate easily and clearly, both verbal and nonverbal. When there is less communication, there tends to be more misunderstanding, which leads to disagreements, arguments, and whatnot! In this case, women leaders are more content with working through tough issues for as long as possible until they reach a peaceful solution.

  • Collaboration:

Women in leadership positions are naturally more collaborative than their male counterparts. When in difficulty, rather than going through it alone, just like most male leaders prefer, women are more collaborative. They prefer the process of people coming together to discuss and debate several issues. Women leaders prefer the modus operandi that includes using the collective intel of present members to determine an agreeable and actionable plan. As the saying suggests, more minds are better than one and women leaders tend to believe this.

  • Controlling:

While women naturally are more collaborative and considerate, they also look for control. Every business needs a process and system and women in positions make sure they know how to control without being so aggressive.

So it is important to acknowledge this leadership qualities in women, free from all biases.
