Mumbai, Maharashtra Jul 3, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - The untold story of legendary lawyer from Mankara Palakkad ( Kerala) Chettur Sankaran Nair whose magnanimous effort and groundbreaking legal court battle against the British to bring out the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre will be seen in Bollywood soon. Titled “The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair”, the film is all set to hit the silver screen which is inspired by real-life events and adapted from the book “The Case That Shook the Empire”, written by Raghu Palat, (great-grandson of  C.Sankaran Nair) and his wife Pushpa Palat. Recently Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has announced this film on the life of C. Sankaran Nair focusing on the legal fight to uncover the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. This is for the first time any Hindi movie on Kerala’s unsung hero of freedom struggle Chettur Sankaran  Nair is being made. The movie, to be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. The makers are yet to announce the cast of the movie though fans are vouching for actor Manoj Bajpayee for the lead role.

Talking about the book authors  Raghu  Palat and Pushpa Palat says that they were walking around the Jallianwala Bagh Museum in Amritsar in March 2017, when they chanced upon the plaque that mentioned the name ‘Chettur Sankaran Nair’. It was then that the couple decided to tell the world the story of the man from Kerala whose groundbreaking fight changed the course of Indian history. Sankaran Nair had fought a courtroom battle against the British Raj to uncover Punjab Governor Michael O’Dwyer's role in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. It took about eight months to complete this book. Further  Raghu Palat adds that the credit regarding the movie goes to his son-in-law Aditya Hitkari and daughter Divya Palat ( both are known film/theatre fraternity ).  After reading the book, they believed that this should be a movie and it was through their efforts it happened. It has to be mentioned that Raghu Palat himself is a renowned author. He is one of the pioneers of business writing in India. To the question that why in Bollywood silver screen movie on prominent Keralite political ( influential )figure is not much visible, Raghu and Pushpa Palat states that they feel the history books have completely left out any contribution of persons from Kerala. So much so that even Malayalees are largely unaware of these people and the contributions they made. They feel it is high time leaders of that time are acknowledged not just at single museums but in the minds and hearts of all Indians. Once there are more stories then they will be more movies about these people. Everyone loves a good story and when it's a real-life story it becomes even more interesting.
