New York City, New York May 28, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - History is alive and well in this new book that tells the origins of the settlers of the borderlands lying between New Mexico and Colorado. Established as a society of Spanish as well as Pueblo and Plains Indian descendants, these settlers eventually morphed into a distinct and fascinating people of their own, a story that is laid out in Experiences in the Historical Borderlands: A Shared Ancestry, by Dolores M. Martinez.

Be regaled by the tales of the first settlers, be embroiled in the emerging politics, and be heartbroken in the genocide and subsequent revolutions that rocked this society. Moving the story along are actual photographs and interviews of descendants of key figures of the history of this region.

Being a native Coloradan who grew up in a rural Southern Colorado mining community and whose passion is genealogy, Dolores feels this project is more than personal, and she hopes this book will help others like her piece together their past. She’s been employed more than two decades in the largest municipal law firm in Colorado.  Dolores is a former executive board member of Adelante Mujer Inc. and is still actively involved in this organization.  She currently is a member of the Community Acquisitions Committee of the Denver Public Library; and member of the American GI Forum.

Dolores’ work will be exhibited at the BookExpo + BookCon 2019, to be held at the Jacob Javits Center, New York City, this coming May 29 to 31 and June 1 and 2, 2019, at the Authors Press Booth # 1667.
