kolkata, West bengal Oct 16, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Chandan Agarwal, a Chartered Accountant in practice based out of Kolkata, has been awarded the Bharat Ratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Samman Puraskar by Global Achievers Foundation for service to the Leprosy affected and the rural poor of India on the occasion of National Seminar on Individual Contribution for National Integration and World Peace on 7th September, 2018 at New Delhi.
Chandan Agarwal completed his schooling under the Cambridge University and scored straight A's in all his majors. He then went on to complete his Graduation in Accounting and Commerce, followed by Chartered Accountancy.
He always had a fascination towards health and has also completed a second Bachelor's degree in Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences.
Hailing from a business family, he always had a keen interest towards community service and devotes time regularly to help the poor and needy.
In recognition of his continued contributions, he was recently conferred with the prestigious award of the Bharat Ratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Samman Puraskar at New Delhi in September, 2018.
Leprosy is a chronic and progressive bacterial infection affecting the nerves of the extremities, the skin, the lining of the nose, and the upper respiratory tract. Leprosy produces skin ulcers, nerve damage and muscle weakness.
Chandan has also been a regular contributor to the development of primary schooling in India, and is currently sponsoring the education of children of an entire School under the NGO Friends of Tribal Society.
As Chandan says, "Giving back to the Society should be an integral component to one's life making it more complete and satisfying". He soon plans to open an NGO devoted to the promotion of health education in India.
