Manhattan, New York Jan 24, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - New York Times-acclaimed playwright and the creator of Bravo Network’s, “Your Husband is Cheating On Us”, JD Lawrence, suffered a minor stroke and brain damage. He was admitted and housed in ICU at Stonybrook Hospital on January 7, 2023, for ten days and is now in rehab recovering in good spirits, ready to get back to work.
Lawrence was working on a documentary fundraiser entitled, “Saving Hunter Squires Jackson Post 1218”, an American legion veteran’s post in his hometown of Amityville at the time of the incident. Hunter Squires Jackson Post 1218 originated as an all-black veteran's post, due to segregation. A representative for Lawrence [and the production] said that filming would continue for “Saving Hunter Squires Jackson Post 1218”. He remains the writer, director, and executive producer of this one-hour special.
Amityville's, “The Block and JD Lawrence’s Shop Life”, inspired by “Scissors”, are now being cast and produced by Lawrence in Amityville. “Scissors” was in a ten-year battle with the iconic “Barbershop” franchise that undoubtedly caused a ripple in the entertainment industry.
