He received his medical degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. While in medical school, he was a recipient of the Syntex Research Scholarship, which allowed him to work with Dr. Lawrence P. Scheving, a world-renowned authority on chronobiology.
Following his internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University affiliated hospitals, he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at St. Louis University Health Sciences Center in St. Louis, Missouri. While there, he was mentored by Dr. Bruce R. Bacon, one of the world’s foremost authorities in the field of hepatology, specifically hemochromatosis. Before joining Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Holly was in private practice in Jackson, Tennessee for four years.
In affiliation with numerous medical associations, he is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Having published several articles in journals, he is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Providing “state of the art” healthcare to his patients and community service has been the cornerstone of Dr. Holly’s career.
