Dr. José Eugenio-Colón Returns to the Center for Endometriosis Care

Atlanta, Georgia Nov 9, 2022 (Issuewire.com)  - Ken Sinervo, MD, MSc, FRCSC, ACGE, and the Center for Endometriosis Care (CEC) are extremely pleased to announce the return of Dr. José D. Eugenio-Colón to the CEC. “I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Eugenio-Colón back to my team,” said Dr. Sinervo, CEC Medical Director. “With nearly two decades of extensive clinical expertise in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and compassionate treatment of those with endometriosis, he is exceptionally well suited to provide excellent care to our patients from around the world.”

A high-volume, Board-certified surgeon, Dr. Eugenio-Colón specializes in minimally invasive surgical care for the treatment of pelvic pain and Laparoscopic Excision of Endometriosis (LAPEX). He previously completed a Fellowship with Dr. Sinervo in advanced excision and returns to the CEC from his role as Director of the SLU Center for Endometriosis and Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women’s Health in the Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Eugenio-Colón also continues to teach globally and has trained many other physicians in the use of the C02 laser for the excision of endometriosis including from the diaphragm, ureters, and other vital organs.

Upon graduating from Medical School at Universidad Iberoamericana, Dr. Eugenio-Colón completed a Fellowship at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and a Residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center. An avid researcher whose interests include pelvic pain, evidence-based and multispecialty treatment of endometriosis, and the development of algorithms for endometriosis treatment and follow-up, he has countless presentations, lectures, and publications to his credit. Among other organizations, he remains an active member of the Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). He has received several awards over the course of his career, including the Dean's Excellence in Teaching and Top Community-Based Teacher of the Year Awards from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Laparoscopic Resident Award from the AAGL. In 2019, he was the Recipient of the prestigious Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Eugenio-Colón has a committed interest in improving the landscape of endometriosis care through his vast advocacy efforts. He is especially dedicated to improving medical access in the Latin American community and to that end, continues to serve patients in the Dominican Republic as well, where he is part of the EFS Gynecology & Obstetrics team in Santo Domingo.
