Introducing Duzu Watches, a Western Australian watch design studio founded by Wayne McCay. Their first watch, the Ningaloo Reef diver is a contemporary architecturally styled sports tool watch named after the World heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef located along the north west coast of Western Australia. Duzu Watches vision is to create watches that are current, affordable and versatile.
The watch features several unique features, most notably the case, its skeletonised architectural styling strongly references the structural formations of coral reefs. The 316L stainless steel case is finished in a combination of brushed and bead-blasted finishes and is beautifully complimented by a unique 120 click uni-directional bezel bezel with lumed matt ceramic inlay and 4mm thick AR coated domed sapphire crystal. The caseback has an ultra tough appearance featuring a deep engraved brand logo and is secured to the case with six (6) machine screws. The matte black sandwich dial is punctuated by subtle markers and text which provides a sense of depth whilst contributing to the overall engineered appearance of the watch.
The hands offer a delicate aesthetic, reinforcing the refined engineered appearance of the dial. Hour and minute hands are lumed filled while the seconds hand is blue, yet another reference to the azure waters of the Ningaloo Reef.
The watch is powered by the Japanese made Mitota 9015 movement, a great performer known for its accuracy and reliability. The straps are premium grade leather beautifully finished with white stitching and brushed stainless steel buckle and fixed to the watch with stainless steel screw bars, yet another engineering feature which contributes to the overall feel of a tough, functional and dependable tool.
