Launceston, Tasmania May 18, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Two of Launceston’s newest theatre companies have joined forces to get everyone laughing this June/July.
Emerge Productions formed in 2020 and Star Rae Productions moved its offices from Brisbane to Launceston in 2021. Founders Amanda Sutherland and Racheal Leigh are both working performers and performing arts teachers based in Launceston. Both are passionate about helping new performers find their feet in what can be at times an industry that is hard to break into. Bringing together performers who are relatively new with experienced performers is an innovative idea that will only benefit the Launceston local live entertainment scene.
With this ethos, Amanda and Racheal noticed there wasn’t a lot of comedy happening at the moment. With all the hard Times everyone has been facing in recent times we felt it was time to bring some laughter back to our lives. In the spirit of the adage that laughter is the best medicine and inspired by shows such as Whose Line Is It Anyway and Thank God, You’re Here we have created a new show to be played at the Earl Arts Centre between 30 June and 3 July.
Amanda and Racheal through an open audition process have found an amazing collection of local performers, captained by Nathaniel Wood & Ashley Eyles who aren’t afraid to play. This show will test their metal as they are encouraged to take suggestions from the Audience whilst participating in several Improvisational Games. Taking this concept one step further our performers will also be inviting audience members to join them on stage to compete in the games. We believe this will be a unique experience for live audiences in the Launceston Area.
