London, United Kingdom Apr 19, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - Barnes Football Club (established in 1862, a founding member of the FA and first-ever FA Cup participant) is running a crowdfunding campaign (via Crowdfunder UK) for the creation of a women's adult team. The EmpowerHer initiative aims to establish a vibrant and inclusive women's football team within the local community. This project not only addresses the growing demand for women's football but also serves as a catalyst for community recovery post-pandemic. According to the UK Household Longitudinal Survey, women’s mental health deteriorated almost twice as much as men’s during the lockdown, due to differences in caring responsibilities and social tendencies. There is also a lack of physical activity, time dedicated to social events, and unfortunately economic impact in the post-pandemic period.

Barnes Football Club is the winner of the 2023 Grassroots Club of the Year 2023 by Surrey FA and FA accredited football club, famous for their community engagement, free football for vulnerable families, family-driven environment, and good governance.
Barnes FC Dames will play Tier 7 of Women's English football in season 24/25 at excellent 3G facilities in Chiswick. Recently backed by a Sport England matching grant, the club needs further support from the community to reach the fundraising target in covering pitch rentals and other basic costs for running the team in its first year. All supporters are hoping the club will play the FA Cup again in the near future!
