Eradani, Inc., (www.eradani.com) leading open source experts for IBM i, announced today the latest release of their Eradani Connect Framework for connecting the open source to IBM i native applications. Version 2.1 of Eradani Connect provides out of the box plugin support for connecting Jira Issue Tracking to Change Management from Rocket Software. Jira users are able to view, search and report on all IBM i change management activity related to a Jira ticket directly from within Jira. Auditors can now go to one place to see all change activity history. Operations users can have Jira orchestrate deployments across multiple platforms including the IBM i.
The new Jira plugin support is based on the Eradani Connect Framework. The Eradani Connect Framework allows open source developers to access IBM i native resources (programs, procedures, database, commands, etc.) using simple RESTful service calls. The Eradani Connect Framework translates those calls into IBM i program, command, procedure or database calls and then returns JSON to the service requester. According to Daniel Magid, CEO of Eradani, “It is our objective to make it so easy for open source developers to interact with the IBM i that they don’t even need to know they are talking to an IBM i.”
