New York City, New York May 21, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Gail, a registered nurse, serves as a Nurse Educator and Simulation Lab Coordinator at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, North Carolina. Having been with the college for well over two decades, she teaches LPN and ADN students, as well as is in charge of setting up various simulation labs (including the psych simulation lab in 2008).
As a young girl, Gail had always wanted to be a teacher. It wasn’t until her senior year that she had an awakening and switched to nursing. She earned her nursing degree from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. She then went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from East Carolina University in 2013.
Now as a nurse educator, Gail gets the best of both worlds. She attributes her success to being open to learning, being a lifelong learner, being passionate about her profession, and having a strong desire to help others.
Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, the National League for Nursing, the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, and the North Carolina Nurses Association.
A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
