New York City, New York Nov 2, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Recognized as a skilled urologist, Dr. Brown is in practice at the AUA Surgical Center. His areas of clinical interest include prostate cancer, urinary stone disease, general urology, sacral neuromodulation, and interstitial cystitis.
AUA Surgical Center is Amarillo’s only urological surgical center, providing elective outpatient surgical procedures. It is owned and operated by the physician group at Amarillo Urology Associates.
A native of Amarillo, Dr. Brown has a Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. He started his career in medicine by earning his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University. He then went on to complete his internship at Baylor University Medical Center, and his residencies in surgery and urology at UT Southwestern Medical School, Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
In practice since 1982, he is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Brown is a member of various medical organizations, including the American Urological Association and the Texas Medical Association.
Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Brown has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including being named “America’s Top Urologist” in 2009, and selected to Texas Super Doctors in 2010.
