Apr 8, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Recently a small group of self-initiated big-hearted team of volunteers who refer to themselves as ‘Jazz Birds’ started a cafe in Yau Ma Tei which gave free meals, Covid-19 rapid test (RAT) kits, and other necessities to children who had rare medical conditions such as spinal cord atrophy and Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). Members of the local community such as the elderly, the disabled, and those in poverty will also benefit from this operation.
Jazz Bird Cafe is run by Hong Kong Jazz Bird Time Club. The cafe features a top-quality vegetarian and one-of-a-kind signature drinks menu. All profits from the cafe will be given back to the community. Celebrities such as Penny Chan Kwok Fung, Xenia Chong, and Raymond Young Lap-moon (GBS, JP) were present at the cafe’s opening ceremony last Sunday.
In a collaboration with charity group Lifewire and social enterprise ‘1 Roof’, over a hundred families benefited from several hundred meal boxes and other items delivered across Hong Kong by ‘Jazz Birds’ three times last month.
At noon this coming Sunday, April 10, ‘Jazz Birds’ will work with MercyHK and pass items donated by Henderson Land Development’s Covid Relief Fund and The Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society Kowloon to the elderly, disabled, and those infected with Covid at their cafe in Yau Ma Tei.
