Gospel Legend Shirley Caesar Supports Civil Rights Era Coming of Age Story

Star of Robin Roberts' Stole By My Mother: The Kamiya Mobley Story, Rayven Ferrell, leads cast as tenacious teen Rosalee in Through Her Eyes.

Los Angeles, California Feb 10, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Triauric Films has partnered with Shirley Caesar to release Trent Lumpkin’s Through Her Eyes, which will premiere February 11th-23rd in Los Angeles at the Pan African Film Festival. The film will star Rayven Ferrell as Rosalee Wimbush. Set during the Civil Rights Era, Through Her Eyes, chronicles Rosalee Wimbush as she struggles to find the confidence to attend an all-while high school. While facing countless racial injustice and prejudice, Rosalee begins the journey of redemption as her home life becomes topsy-turvy. The cast of Wimbush family members is rounded out by Angela Ray’s May, Shawn Luckey’s Otis Sr., and Michael Rodney’s Otis Jr. 

This dramatic narrative is a short film loosely based on true life events in 1960s Selma, Alabama.

About The Cast:

Rayven Ferrell (Rosalee Wimbush): Rayven is an actress known for her acting portrayals in All Eyez on Me; The Hate U Give; Chicago P.D. and Stolen by My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story.

Angela Ray (May Wimbush): Angela Ray is an actress, author and award-winning speaker. Recently, Angela received rave reviews by the New York Times for her role in the critically acclaimed Atlanta tv series featured on FX Network. Television credits: Queen Sugar; Sleepy Hollow; One Tree Hill and Dawson’s Creek. She is best known as Carol, the shady landlord on Tyler Perry’s Love Thy Neighbor.

Shawn Luckey (Otis Wimbush, Sr.): Shawn Luckey is an actor, writer and producer. He is a co-founder of Diversity Players of Harlem, a New York City-based theatre production company. TV credits: ID’s Lt. Kenda Homicide Hunter. Film credits: Spike Lee’s Miracle at St. Anna; and Tyler Perry’s For Colored Girls. Shawn was awarded an AUDELCO Award for his contributions to the arts.

Michael Rodney (Otis Wimbush, Jr.): Michael Christopher Rodney is a graduate of both Broward College and University of Central Florida's acting programs. Theatre credits: August Wilson's Gem of The Ocean; Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun. Television credits: Burn Notice; and Graceland.

About The Filmmakers:

Writer/Director/Producer: Trenton Lumpkin is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He received his Bachelors of Arts from Alabama A&M University in Communications with a concentration in performance. Since graduating from college, Trenton has produced and directed numerous projects. In an effort to continue honing his craft, Trenton finished competed for post-graduate studies at Savannah College of Art and Design with a concentration in television and film.

Executive Producer: Shirley Caesar is a singer, songwriter and recording artist with seven decades of recording history in the gospel music genre. Dr. Caesar has amassed industry accolades ranging from Dove Awards, Stellar Awards and Grammy Awards. In addition, she is widely considered as “First Lady of Gospel Music” and “The Queen of Gospel Music”.
