Tennessee drug and alcohol abuse rates have been on the rise. The state now ranks 10th in the nation for drug overdoses, claiming 1,776 lives in 2018 and averaging 22.2 deaths per 100,000 people. Harmony Oaks Recovery Center hopes to provide a much-needed service to the region and help those struggling with addiction through their dedicated, patient-centered care.
Harmony Oaks Recovery Center will be opening an intimate 20-bed setting and offer effective, evidence-based treatment services for phase I and phase II of care which includes initial detox and continual therapies under the directive of Dr. John Eric Carter, MD who also serves as the medical director of Parkridge Valley Hospital.
Therapeutic programs set Harmony Oaks apart, creating lasting changes through EMDR,
cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Recovery, family/relationship therapy, co-occurring disorder therapy, grief/loss counselling, anger management, and experiential therapies like art, music, yoga/meditation, spiritual groups, and the very unique offering of equine therapy.
Additional lifestyle programs prepare patients for re-entry and set them up for long-term recovery by offering classes and support in areas like problem-solving and decision making, communication skill-building, nutritional/self-care building, life skills training, budgeting, and money management, grocery shopping, employment/education support, and legal assistance.
During the first 30 days of opening, Harmony is offering scholarship opportunities to help those in the region affected by drug and alcohol abuse who may not have insurance or the financial ability to get treatment.
