Grassroots Law Project Defund the Police Series Meeting 2 – August 6, 2020, at 1 pm Via Zoom
LOCAL GRASSROOTS LAW PROJECT ORGANIZERS WILL HOST MEETING WITH TEMPE MAYOR COREY WOODS & COUNCIL MEMBERS LAUREN KUBY AND DOREEN GARLID AUGUST 6, 2020 TO DISCUSS DEFUNDING TEMPE POLICE STRATEGY
The Grassroots Law Project has initiated a Defund the Police campaign for the Phoenix Metro and surrounding areas. Why? Because Tempe police are notoriously some of the most violent in the Valley, often killing mentally ill individuals (ie: Dalvin Hollins).
Officers don’t get the training nor do they have the tools to deal with mental health services, yet they are the 1st responders in most cases—Nationally, about 1/2 of police killings involve someone with a mental illness.

LOCAL GRASSROOTS LAW PROJECT ORGANIZERS WILL HOST MEETING WITH VICE MAYOR BETTY GUARDADO ON AUGUST 4, 2020 TO DISCUSS DEFUNDING PHOENIX POLICE STRATEGY
