It’s time for some levity
Wicked Karma Entertainment, a company run by Christie Sanam, is hosting the very first of its kind Holi celebration in Saltwater Statepark in Des Moines, WA on May 14th from 12 pm-5 pm. The goal is to celebrate joy and diversity by bringing neighbors together for a fun activity for all ages. DJ Gabbar will be playing Bollywood music along with a live percussion performance by Shiva Rhythms of India.

Holi is a popular Indian festival, also known as the "Festival of Love", the "Festival of Colours" and the "Festival of Spring". For many, it is a playful cultural event and an excuse to throw colored powder at friends or strangers in jest. In India, this often combines with people using water toys as well to create a fun colorful mess.
Now Des Moines will get to experience this fun for themselves right down on the beach in Saltwater State park next to the Snack Shack. There will be a stage for DJ Gabbar, a popular DJ who spins Bollywood music for public and private events alike. Shiva Rhythms of India will be performing with their live drums and ethnic percussion session that is commonly found in regional parts of India during festivals and celebrations.
Guests of all ages will be able to buy a ticket for $20 that includes entry and 2 color packets to be able to throw in the air in elation or even at their friends and neighbors. Parking at Saltwater State Park is free with a Discover pass or guests can use the pay station for a $10 daily fee. The organizer of Wicked Karma, Christie Sanam says that it's a win-win situation to help energize and support the State Parks with this program coming out of Covid restrictions and give people a platform to connect with each other again.
WK was founded by Christie Sanam and Rohit Batra (DJ RDX) in 2013. Rohit has moved on to develop Sur in Seattle focusing on his love and talent for original Hindi music and Christie is on a never-ending quest to make as many people dance in her life as humanly possible. WK founded the very first Bollywood Yacht party in Seattle and has done such creative things as touring folks to Leavenworth for a very Bavarian Bollywood event, the first Bollywood Silent Disco in Seattle, the first Bollywood Traffic Light party in Seattle and so much more.
WK has had a focus on producing top-tier nightlife entertainment in Seattle in addition to producing Bollywood celebrity events. WK has had the pleasure of hosting AR Rahman's 2018 tour, Javed Akhtar & Shabana Azmi, Pankaj Kapoor & Supriya Pathak, Saurabh Shukla, Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Saif Ali Khan, and so many more.
WK has played at The Baltic Room, Acquabar, Corbu, the Crocodile, Hard Rock, Showbox Sodo, Stage Seattle, Tractor Tavern, Fremont Foundry, Studio 7, Seattle Design Center, Emerald City Trapeze Arts, the Islander, and we also had a great monthly run at Club Contour until we lost her to Covid
