Morbid Comics has revealed the pre-launch page on Kickstarter for a campaign for the second issue in the four-issue series. And once again, the first issue will be available.

As was documented in an exclusive story on the site Bleeding Cool on Sept 7, 2020, H.P. Lovecraft was commissioned by a mysterious and wealthy New York publisher to create the most unusual adaptation of the story. In 1934, not long after Lovecraft had completed his manuscript, the deal fell through. Furious at losing the largest paycheck of his life he burned it. Early last year a gift of Lovecraft letters and documents was left to the university, where his notes to this enigmatic work were discovered.

“It’s a remarkable thing, very suited for a comic book adaptation, “ says writer and artist Trevor Markwart. “The basics are there, Beauty is a student at Arkham University, her mentor a professor there. But the Beast is a bizarre monster and the story is steeped in Lovecraftian cosmic horror with time shifts, and creatures from his many tales make their appearance, and there are gruesome deaths. And it’s a Lovecraft story, so you can kind of forget about a conventional happy ending.”

In this second issue, Omorphia, the Beauty of the story, makes her way to the Victorian mansion and laboratory of the Beast -- who has demanded she assist him before he endows the university department with the money the professor needs to keep his job. There she’s attacked by a Shoggoth, narrowly misses being psychically attacked by the Great Race of Yith, and is nearly killed on a massive spiral staircase with impossible geometry much like the lost city of R'lyeh. All before she can even meet her host in the second half of the issue.
