Melbourne, Victoria Jun 11, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - The Melbourne branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) joined forces with the Amaroo Neighborhood Centre to successfully host the 5th annual "International Loving Peace Art Competition." Under the theme of "A World of Peace Learned from Nature," this inspiring event brought together approximately 15 children and teenagers who showcased their artistic talents. The awards ceremony followed the preliminary competition, creating an atmosphere of celebration and recognition.
Now in its 5th year, the International Loving Peace Art Competition serves as a platform to foster global harmony and highlights the significance of cultivating a peaceful culture among the next generation of leaders. By instilling the principles of natural harmony, the competition envisions a future world characterized by tranquility. Through the expressive medium of children and teenagers' artwork, IWPG Victoria and Amaroo Neighbourhood Centre proudly collaborate for the second time, celebrating this milestone event.
Reflecting on the meaning of peace during the creation of their artwork, 11-year-old Kevin shared reflected “Peace isn’t something that we think is an emotion or something, it’s an act and we should always act peacefully to others.”
The competition takes place annually in major cities across Korea and abroad, spreading the spirit of peace to achieve global harmony and put an end to the war in the global village.
Janine Saligari, the Amaroo Neighborhood Centre Coordinator, expressed her excitement, stating, “Excited that the kids Loving-Peace Art Competition were able to occur before our annual art show and that we were able to exhibit two different generations of art. It was really exciting and it was enjoyed by a great number of families and artists from the community and it is definitely growing in popularity. I can’t wait for next year”
The competition featured first, second, third, and highly commended prizes for each age group. The Elementary Award was presented to Rylee Ji Woo Tan from The Good Shepherd Elementary School, while the Secondary Award was granted to Kaylee Lee Kennedy from University High School.
Reflecting on her experience as a recipient of the Secondary Award, Kaylee Lee Kennedy shared "It was a fun and interesting Art competition with students of various ages participating, and it was a time to look back on what peace means."
Outstanding artworks from each country will be sent to IWPG's headquarters in Seoul, Korea, where they will undergo final judging. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November, and the selected award-winning works will be published in a prestigious catalog, preserving these artistic achievements for years to come.
