In regards to his educational background, Dr. Galanis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in 1980. He earned his medical degree from the St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1984.
Subsequently, he completed an internship at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in 1985, and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Bethesda Eye Institute, St. Louis University, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a fellowship in glaucoma at the prestigious Estelle Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California, and returned home to St. Louis as an Assistant Professor at St. Louis University Eye Institute.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in ophthalmology through the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Galanis is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the St. Louis Ophthalmological Society, and the American Society of Cataracts and Refractive Surgery.
