Los Angeles, California Jan 30, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Visionary Artist Johnny Otto, often compared to Basquiat, Haring, and Picasso has finally released 35 of his major works as NFTs exclusively on the Opensea Marketplace. Although Otto began selling NFTs back in March of 2021, this is the first time he's made his acrylic paintings available in this space. His other NFTs include experimental art, video montages, and pixelated characters.
Otto's work is greatly influenced by African Art that he saw as a kid at the Detroit Institute of Arts and he has been working tirelessly for over 45 years to transform that art into a modern context. His bright, bold, and aggressive style has caught the attention of collectors around the world.
Johnny Otto's work has been shown with David Hockney (Divine Design Fundraiser Auction), 01 Gallery, Headquarters, Jeff Hamilton's Street Art Fair, Radiant Space, Ministry Gallery, Art Squat, Project Angel Food Auction, Novian/Miller Space, and others. He has been featured in numerous publications including Art Reveal Magazine, Artillery, LAWeekly, VoyageLA, and Left Bank Magazine.
In 2021 Otto published Art Squat Magazine with fellow Writers Julia Siedenburg and Laura Siebold, which features interviews with artists such as Dave Navarro, WRDSMTH, Plastic Jesus, RUN, Stephanie Cate, Svetlana Talabolina, and many other Artists from around the world.
Otto believes in giving back to the community so in 2020 he donated his painting, "Za Videni", to the Project Angel Food Auction to help raise money for homebound people with AIDS. In 2018 Otto's solo show was a Fundraiser for Drop in the Bucket, an NGO which helps bring clean water to refugees in Africa.
