The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Throughout his line of work, Dr. Gabriel has published multiple research articles and book chapters for the benefit of medical education. He invented the Mini-Open approach to the Presacral Retroperitoneal space for minimally invasive lumbosacral discectomy and fusion.
Nationally and internationally, he has given multiple presentations and lectures on spine surgery. His research interests include patient outcomes and the biomechanics of the spine.
