New York City, New York Oct 20, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - A seasoned maternal-fetal medicine specialist, Dr. DeStefano founded Austin Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2009, and serves as Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for St. David’s Women's Center of Texas.

Her areas of expertise include perinatal ultrasound, fetal echocardiography, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and cerclage placement (vaginal & abdominal).
Back in 2001, Dr. DeStefano graduated with her medical degree from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine. She then went on to perform her residency
Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
Furthermore, she is board-certified in maternal-fetal medicine & obstetrics, and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Holding an academic title, Dr. DeStefano serves as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, a component of Texas A&M University.
Maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that focuses on managing the health concerns of the mother and fetus prior to, during, and shortly after pregnancy. Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are physicians who subspecialize within the field of obstetrics. For pregnant women with chronic health problems or other complications during their pregnancy, MFM specialists work to keep them as healthy as possible while their bodies carry a pregnancy.
