Bengaluru, Karnataka May 4, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Lazie Indie Magazine which came into being in May 2020 to promote independent musicians from across the world has released its 3rd Anniversary edition. Within the 3 years of being in existence, the community of artists featured in the magazine has come in from more than 50 countries and the community of readers of this print-formatted digital magazine has grown to more than 100 countries.
Lazie Indie Magazine rose to reckon during the pandemic days when the indie music community around the world suffered irreparable losses and was struggling to keep music alive.
An effort started by Jay Pillai from India an Independent musician for 30+ years gathered great momentum and respect among musicians cutting across stature from all over the world due to its uncompromising approach to keep itself truly global and truly all-encompassing in its approach. Soon many top musicians joined this movement and became contributing columnists. The likes of Radio Host and prolific Indie songwriter – Inge Zimmermann Probst from Germany, Tomiko Dixon ( the granddaughter of the great Willie Dixon- from the USA, Ann Aria from the popular band Dream Aria- From Canada, Ace guitarist, Radio host, and promoter- Jorg Klein from Germany, The popular radio hosts Grant and Barbara from New Zealand, Singer Songwriter& Radio host – Emma Goldberg, popular and awarded singer-songwriter Kathryn Shipley, TV Personality Ms. Benita- the USA, Popular singer-songwriter – Lyia Meta – Malaysia, Popular Rock Singer – Darshan – the Middle East, Popular singer-songwriter from India - Sherise d Souza and Harikrishnan from the band Indian Joint and many more joined Jay Pillai and his friend Manoj who is also a well-known drummer if the band Lazie J. The IIMF- 2022 ( International Indie Music Festival – Trivandrum India) which was a combined initiative between Lazie Indie and the Kerala Arts and Crafts village ( Govt of Kerala Tourism Department subsidiary) was a natural outcome of the coming together of artists featured in the magazine over the period featuring artists from 8 countries and a total of 21 Music acts over 5 days, a very unique feat indeed. Currently, the IIMF is gearing up for its second edition in Nov 2023. The IIMF opened doors for international independent musicians to the Indian music scene and many fabulous musicians have started to tour India like Armenian Qanun Maestro Marianna Gevorgyan who has already traveled 2 times to India performing and has a lot more in hand to do in India as the music fraternity is mesmerized by this fabulous artist featuring her exotic instrument from her country. Many who performed at the IIMF are getting invited to more events in India and that brings the indie world together. Venues from more countries have started to plan events on similar terms bringing the expertise of the Lazie Indie Magazine team and the community of artists built around it.
“ It was started as an attempt to cheer up fellow artists who thought of leaving music during the pandemic days. But it became a more potent force in the indie music scene when top artists volunteered to write columns for me just to help fellow artists who may have been at the crossroads of their careers during the lockdowns. We all need to network and help each other to sustain ourselves in a tough world of Independent music which is driven by sheer passion and nothing more. Lazie Indie Magazine has proved to me that the goodness in musicians still exists and many are willing to support and promote each other. This is great news for a musician who fights more often than not a lone man battle to create, perform and promote his/ her music”. Says Jay Pillai the founding editor of Lazie Indie Magazine.
Well, good times are ahead, when the best of Indie music in the world comes together on Lazie Indie Magazine
