Subsequently, he was a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery at New York Hospital/Cornell University Medical Center. Thereafter, he completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery in the Microsurgical Replantation Transplantation Department of the Ralph K. Davies Medical Center.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Gayle is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has written numerous journal articles and book chapters, and has made presentations at surgical conferences. He is presently involved in several research projects, including a dimensional assessment of the breast for fabrication of implants, fibrin sealant applications in post-laser resurfacing, as well as modifications in tram flap surgery and the effects on the abdominal wall donor site.
