Reclaimers have just launched on Kickstarter promising a new hybrid-genre game matching the classic tower defense formula but with a twist, adding a grand strategy aspect. This, along with unique graphics LNO studios hopes to make this game stand out. It stitches several themes together, including magic, fantasy, steampunk, and sci-fi into what the main creator behind Reclaimers, Luke Nugent mentions as "beautiful chaos".
"I wanted this game to have contradicting elements that juxtapose each other. I wanted a sense of satisfying chaos, like robots fighting medieval knights, and steampunk airships fighting dragons. It sounds all over the place but still somehow combines itself into a nicely packaged parcel. The money raised on Kickstarter will go into just that, to make compelling music and sound effects that enhance these ideas of chaos. I feel like there should be more games exploring these genre hybrids that seem initially ridiculous. The more over the top it is, the better! Or in other words, make games that breed beautiful chaos..."
This game is designed for PC Steam and is set to release later on Steam in mid-2023. Currently, the project is on Kickstarter asking for support to allow the game to receive professional music and sound fx. The game is meant to have a satisfying experience. There are two sections to the game. The tower defense section forces the player to utilize resources to build towers and units to fight waves of enemies. This is in contrast to the grand strategy aspect of the game where the player manages an entire empire surrounded by enemies. The player has access to diplomacy and technology as well as responsibilities to manage their economies. The two parts of the game affect each other. Unlocking unit types to use in the tower defense mode will require investing in technology in the overall campaign. Resource collection in the tower defense mode will affect the overall campaign resource management.
Currently, backers for this Kickstarter will receive behind-the-scenes rewards depending on their pledge! There are currently 3 spots for backers of $200 or more, to get the chance to implement their own map into the game. Lower than that, a $50 pledge will get backers the opportunity to add their own unit type added to the game.
Reclaimers have masterfully combined two genres as well as accomplished multiple different wacky themes together, with stunning polished graphics, this game truly can become an epic experience!
