Locally Written Pantomime breaks sales records!

Non-Profit Drama Club in Iver Heath has record sales with a pantomime they have written themselves

Iver, Buckinghamshire Nov 30, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - A  volunteer-run amdram group based in South Bucks have broken their pre-Christmas sales record having sold 68% of tickets before the start of December. Out of a total 675 tickets available for Beauty & The Beast, the club has sold 456 tickets to local school children, friends, family and community groups such as the Iver Heath & the Uxbridge Scouts and Brownies.

The Iver Heath Drama Club is funded through membership, tickets sales, and grants from Iver Parish Council, Buckinghamshire County Council and Pinewood Studios for their work with children and adults of all ages and abilities. The club, based at the Iver Heath Village Hall, celebrated their 70th birthday in October 2018 with a sold-out quiz night featuring challenges from Taskmaster.

"It's fantastic that people are booking early and in droves. We are also incredibly proud that for the first time we are performing a script written by one of our members!" said Lucy Campling, co-director of the show. "We are really excited with the result; it's a brilliant topical show"

Lee Hall, author of this year's pantomime has been a member for 10 years and commutes to the club each week from his home in Oxfordshire. "Writing a pantomime has been a rewarding project. The scripts we have used in the past are normally limited to 11 or so principal characters. This time around, I have increased that number to 18 giving more opportunity to our members which is what our community drama club is all about."

Mr. Hall, who is playing ‘Gastro Intestinal’ in the show, goes onto say:  "Although Beauty and the Beast is a tale as old as time its values are still very relevant and fun today. The long-term plan is to launch an online script shop next year with royalties going directly to the club from any prospective groups who would be interested in this entertaining show."

This year's pantomime songs include hits from Meatloaf, Lady GaGa, and The Greatest Showman. Tickets are available for just £6 from ticketsource.co.uk/ihdc where a family ticket is £27.00. Lee Hall's four novels, including The Teleporter and Darke Blood, are on sale via Amazon.co.uk
