A 3-day online summit on disruption, challenges and reinvention of Higher education in the covid19 Era organized by Dr Vaneeta Aggarwal, CEO of L’strategique LLP, India was being held from 17 to 19 July, 2020. The conference served the purpose to educate and support faculty members from Indian & International higher education institutes.
Since one of the most affected sectors due to ongoing pandemic is Higher Education, Dr Vaneeta felt the need to bring several policy regulators, heads of Institutes and faculty members from PAN India on a single online platform, where leaders can deliver about fears, challenges, remedial measure , initiatives taken at a short notice, developing education technology framework, and future requirements with fellow faculties to remove doubts and confusion in the air.
According to a press release issued by L’strategique LLP, the conference was attended by participants from all parts of India and abroad. The participants including professors, research scholars, deans, vice chancellors, directors, entrepreneurs and edutech professionals from more than 50 leading universities and institutes of technology and management were the major audience of almost 2 hour-long web conference.
The conference began with the inaugural speech by Dr.Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE, Gov. Of India, the statement said. He informed the participants about initiatives by AICTE. Dr (Ms) Pankaj Mittal, secretary General graced the summit with her address to the participants and highlighted the significant steps that must be taken care of and to develop and provide channels to the students and educationists to help them develop online resources.
Dr Beena Giridharan, Deputy pro VC, Curtin Malaysia shared initiatives and challenges faced by her university. Dr Shanthakumar shared his concern over the spotlight on the virtual learning solutions and need to engage both educators and learners to find better long term solutions.
Second day of summit started with inaugural speech of Dr KK Aggarwal, Chairman NBA followed by a keynote speech by Prof Abhay Kumar, VC, IEC University , Baddi on uncertain times in higher education due to covid 19. DR Bigyan Verma, director of SIES College of management. Mumbai emphasized on acquiring an entrepreneurial mind. Prof Sudhir Gavhane of MGM university appreciated the efforts of Universities in transforming to online mode. Dr Vijay Singh, registrar RNTU immediately took help of existing tech resources and started online classes even during covid 19. Dr Vaneeta Aggarwal moderated sessions on both the days.
Final day of summit began with a keynote address by Dr VS Chauhan, President, Executive Committee, NAAC, followed by renowned educationist DR Sandeep Sancheti talking on future requirements in order to revive higher education post covid 19.
The Founding Chairman of first degree granting fully online university of Fredericton from Canada, Mr Kjetil sandermoen graced the occasion and shared positive notes on accelerated business as their university was conceptually designed to face such challenges.
Dr Anoop Swarup, Vice chancellor of Jagran lakecity university left a note of optimism that conflict, cooperation and collaboration all together will help in finding better way of learning.
Finally Dr Vaneeta Aggarwal, the host of summit shared her expertise on importance of Internationalization of Higher education as a way to make professional lives easier for young generation along with being a factor for an economy booster. Dr Tanmoy Charaborty, Dy Registrar, Presidency University, Bengaluru moderated the sessions last day and was editor in chief for digital summit proceedings.
The summit culminated each day with an interactive Q&A session of almost 20 minutes, with Dr. Sahasrabushe, Dr Mittal, Dr Vaneeta and other panellists answering queries from participants.
A digital edition of summit proceedings is published including papers submitted by professors from different Universities.
