Arvada, Colorado Apr 26, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Madhvi Chittoor, 10-year-old girl, founder of Madhvi4EcoEthics, a 501 c3 non-profit that campaigns for the public’s fundamental rights to clean air, soil, water, food, good health, and fights against Climate Change, met on April 20th, 2021 with Madam Vice President Ms. Kamala Harris policy team Dr. Irby and Ms. Millison and presented the Global Plastic Policy.
“Plastic Pollution is the most extant danger facing not only humans but the entire Planet Earth itself,” said Madhvi. “We are drowning ourselves in plastics. We are in the midst of the 6th mass extinction and it is 10% more than what is considered normal. The ecological impacts of plastics are numerous, unseen, and untold. They pollute our ecosystems, kill wildlife, are toxic, are hazardous to public health, and cause Climate Change. We need the policy to eliminate plastics from our lives and also we need Global Action in Global Unison to fight Plastic and Styrofoam Pollution. This meeting is a follow-up meeting to the one that Madhvi Chittoor and her Mom Lalitha Chittoor had with Madam VP Harris in person in Denver on March 16th, 2021.
Madhvi had been running a global campaign for a Global Plastic Policy since October of 2020 and she had garnered the support of scientists like Dr. Jane Goodall, Dr. Michael Mann, Dr. Ed Maibach, Dr. Olga Speranskaya, former Heads of State like Al Gore who is also a Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Ms. Rosalia Arteaga, former President of Ecuador, Ms. Helen Clark, former President of New Zealand, Mr. Erik Solheim and many other Nobel Peace Prize Laureates like Dalai Lama, Mr. Desmond Tutu, Ms. Rigoberta Menchu, Ms. Shirin Ibadi, Ms. Tawakkol Karman, Ms. Jody Wiliams, Goldman Environmental Prize awardee Ms. Yuyun Ismawati, Mr. Chibeze Ezeikel, African Plastic Activist Mr. James Wakibia, Harvard MD Mr. Gaurab Basu, etc. and 145 organizations from 75 countries worldwide.
Madhvi, an activist since the age 5, with her signature campaign in 2018 and her letter to the then Superintendent Dr. Jason Glass had made her school district, the Jeffco Public Schools in Colorado, replace Styrofoam lunch trays in all the 155 schools' cafeterias to sustainable options impacting 86000 students. Also, her signature campaigns, work with Governors Mr. John Hickenlooper, Mr. Jared Polis, US Congressman Mr. Ed Perlmutter and climate rally speeches had brought Plastic Bills in the Colorado General Assembly. Her specific suggestion for surface/storm and groundwater conservation was implemented as rules by COGCC for the Oil & Gas industry in Nov 2020. She has been conferred the 'Best Up and Coming Peacemaker' award from Peace Jam Billion Acts backed by 14 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. She is also the recipient of the 2020 Gloria Barron Prize.
