Los Angeles, California May 24, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Makarem & Associates attorneys Ron Makarem and Jared Walder represent an employee of a Los Angeles Starbucks in a discrimination suit against the coffee chain.
According to the complaint that was filed, the Starbucks employee was a barista whose supervisor began targeting and harassing her. The complaint describes instances of the supervisor making statements such as he “would not date someone with a skin condition.”
The complaint further alleges that the supervisor engaged in inappropriate touching of the plaintiff and other employees as well as discriminating against and harassing the plaintiff on the basis of her sex and her skin condition.
The complaint goes on to allege that the plaintiff complained to her supervisor’s manager, but that ultimately Starbucks failed to address the harassment. The complaint also alleges that the employee suffered from a rare skin condition that required modified work conditions, but Starbucks failed to provide disability accommodations. Finally, the complaint alleges that on the plaintiff’s return from a medical leave of absence, Starbucks terminated her employment.
