Started with an idea of providing a platform for budding and emerging writers and poets of our society through both offline and various online portals, Deeshuumm has come a long way.
Coming from a family of business owners and entrepreneurs, Shubham Sharma (23 Yrs), acknowledged with Rex Karamveer Chakra Award 2019 affiliated by UN, always wanted to start his own business and was not interested in a family heirloom, as he believed no heirloom of humankind captures the past as do Art and Language. Grateful for what he got, he wanted to give back to society.
He has always been a quick learner and always loved challenging his limits. As a kid, he had a keen interest in computers and the early exposure to the electronic gadgets worked in his favour in this tech-savvy era. With the digitization, he realized a lot could be done over the internet. At the age of 18, he designed his own website with an intention of sharing knowledge and information, along with the motivational videos.
In 2018, there were various stand-up events being organized, but the idea of stand-up poetry was fairly new. His close poet friend decided to visit one such event but was barred from performing in the open mic because of his revolutionary ideas and poetry that questioned the state our society is in.
When Shubham Sharma heard about this incident, he was disheartened and knew he had to act. Coming from theater, he realizes, the crown of literature is poetry and he has to save this lost art and the essence of it. Poetry is thoughts that breathe and words that burn and they should never be contained.
And thus, the idea of Deeshuumm: Poetic Connect, was conceived. The foundation was a fairy tale and the journey less so.
Since then the platform has gained momentum and has managed to form one of the biggest online community on YouTube with 81+K Subscribers, in Delhi/ NCR and with no funding and brand backup.
