Born in Chennai (formerly Madras) and raised on Tamil Gospel music. It is easy to hear these influences in his work, but his genius lies in tying many forms of music together to make a sound that is at once familiar and new. He first gained widespread notice for Puthiya Kaariyam, A Tamil Gospel Single by Ebenezer Charles (2020), then branched out into various songs and has succeeded in making Gospel music a global phenomenon. He has worked with Dan Emil Joshua, his brother, and Caleb Stains on Ummai Nambuven, a recent release (2020) and has influenced other gifted producers.
Since then, Deri has been churning success in Gospel Music Industry. He became a raging sensation with the success of his song videos. He later began contributing to songs for other artists and performed many solo hits.
They have a very interesting story behind the making of their song. When we asked what is the story behind the making of Puthiya Kaariyam,
Deri Lorus says,
"At first, we started writing lyrics slowly we got catchy melody for the Chorus. We three were completely satisfied with that melody and we slowly composed the verse. Then, we completed the composition for the whole song and started arranging and programming the instruments. We programmed everything except Tabla because we don't have anything initially to invest in. Day by day we were working on the track we reached Oasis Recording Studio for a Vocal session. We got the vocal ready and started to mix the song ourselves."
"When we finally had the audio, we planned for a Music Video for the song. We decided on an outdoor Video shoot and we're searching for locations. We hired a relative of mine for the shoot who is a Cinematographer because we don't have a huge to produce on videography. And the visual output totally merged with the song and we were very satisfied with the video. We believed that this song going to be a blessing to many. We fixed a date for the Release. On the 15th of February, we released the Music Video on YouTube and we made it available on all digital platforms. We all were waiting for the views and we are amazed it reached many and was a blessing. Many shared their review and testimonies with us. We are thankful and grateful to God."
Deri is a shy and quiet man, but his music has emotional force. Renowned for his immense range, he'll do a traditional score for a conventional song, then blend exotic vocals with Western classical arrangements in his projects. In August 2020, Deri Lorus, Dan Emil Joshua & Caleb Stains released their single Ummai Nambuven
Later the hit of Ummai Nambuven, They released their Christmas single "Pirandhaar Yesu" it's an alt Rock/Gospel song.
Now in 2021, Deri Lorus, Dan Emil Joshua & Caleb Stains were working on their new EP which is going to be released in few months. Deri confirmed his release of the new EP on his Official Instagram & Twitter.
