Members of St. Bartholomew Church in Scotch Plains Plant Some Love at Center for Hope Hospice

Scotch Plains, New Jersey Sep 28, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - Peggy’s House, the Center for Hope Hospice’s residence in Scotch Plains, welcomed ten volunteers from St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church, also in Scotch Plains, to spend time with patients on Sunday, September 23. They brought miniature plants and decorated the pots while socializing with patients, some of whom also enjoyed participating in the craft activity. The volunteers then delivered the plants to each room, providing a bit of greenery and cheer to all. As part of its community outreach mission, church members plan to visit once a month for an activity with patients at Peggy’s House.

"I felt strongly it was important to get involved in this ministry to expose our parish community, young and old, to the dignity of life until the very end, and to help those in hospice know that they are loved, valued and cared for,” said Elaine Coupe, director of community outreach for St. Bartholomew Church. “After one visit, our team was changed by the experience and it confirmed the importance of this wonderful partnership."

The Center for Hope Hospice offers many volunteer opportunities for groups and individuals at Peggy’s House and Father Hudson House in Elizabeth. For information about how to get involved, contact Stacy Kaplan, volunteer coordinator, at skaplan@cfhh.org or call (908) 288-9111.
